RHoD Minis? [SPOILERS] Empty
PostSubject: RHoD Minis? [SPOILERS]   RHoD Minis? [SPOILERS] EmptyMon Aug 06, 2007 1:35 pm

I found a thread over on the wizard's board regarding which minis to use for the module. However, it hasn't been updated since WotDQ, and a *lot* of minis have come out since then. I was just wondering what everyone's opinions were as to best minis and next available proxies (at least for hard to get figs) These are not in order of encounter, just order I can think of them. Eventually, I'll compile it.

Greenspawn Razorfiend- Greenspawn Razorfiend (WotDQ)
Hobgoblin Bladebearers- Hobgoblin Bladebearer.
Hobgoblin "Regulars"- Hobgoblin Warrior(DE?), Hobgoblin Marshal(NB)
Manticores- Manticore(GoL)[pleeease say someone has a proxy for this one! Expensive!]
Doom Fist Monk- Doom fist monk(WotDQ?)
Blood Ghost Berserker- Blood Ghost Berserker(WD?)
Hell Hounds- Hell Hound(HA?) Maybe a painted Krenshar or Timber Wolf?

Whew, I'm going to have to take a break at this, I'm not thinking clearly at all due to poor sleep. If anyone who's ran it can take over for a few, it will probably go quicker than me referencing it constantly. Also, let me know my mistakes (I think a lot of sets I put down were wrong. Sleep!) And if someone wants to take a minute extra to link their favorite reapers for the unique characters as DDM alternates, that would be *most* appreciated.

For the Manticores, I'd proxy Golden Protectors. Not a bad proxy and at $3.99 from Auggie, the price is right.

RHoD Minis? [SPOILERS] Empty
PostSubject: Re: RHoD Minis? [SPOILERS]   RHoD Minis? [SPOILERS] EmptyTue Aug 07, 2007 12:59 am

There are lots of options on the Hobgoblins. Some figs will have to serve dual-roles. Sure some stuff is easy to figure out, but the DRA Hobgoblins, Hobgoblin Impalers, Talons of Tiamat, etc. will likely be serving more than one purpose.

Many of the 'Spawn now have official representation, and a Chromatic Dragon of each available size is highly desirable.

How far are you wanting to go? I mean, if there were a "Lizardfolk" encounter, any Lizardfolk or Troglodyte would work pretty well and Kuo-Toa and Bullywugs would work, IMO, in a pinch. But not everyone agrees. And there are a lot of creatures that are in RHoD that now have minis. I had a huge list, but decided to delete it because I kept going from "official" mini to proxy and not everyone has the same tolerences for proxies that I do (I could sub Imps and Quasits quite easily for Stirges, for instance, and Gargoyles would sub nicely for Harpies in my book).

As for the Manticores...I wonder who would happen to have an extra or two that he might be persuaded to part with. I wonder indeed.

Golden protectors would make decent proxies, but I wouldn't need anything after the game. I could always borrow them, but I'd probably end up borrowing them from someone playing the game with me, and they'd kind of figure. And as far as there being too many proxies, that's great. A huge list of 'em. I'd like to try to keep up with it, because somebody may have random pieces they bought off the internet. A lot of times when I'm looking at buying a module, I find out what minis are used inside, and figure out if I could run it with what I have or proxies.

Well, that's going to be an impressive list.

I think I'll try to start work on that tomorrow. I'll try to keep proxies as close as possible.

OK, we've got the spoiler warning...Tomorrow. I'll start this tomorrow.

Awesome, maybe we'll be able to log into wizards around that time! I'm so frustrated it's leaking into my other posts. Ugh. New troll=proxy for a troll early on in the adventure Very Happy

I know what you mean about the frustration factor...I'm finding myself becoming more and more negative. After all, I just put that work into the Dragonwatch charts (across three boards no less) and now all this?!

Still, I'm going to give it an honest go. We'll see how I do.

Niiiiice, thank you. I would like to run out and try to get some of these now. I meant to do some work on it, but it appears that will no longer be needed :)

Not a problem. I'm just sorry that it took me so long to get to. I tried not to go crazy with the proxies because everyone has a different level of tolerance for them (my own being pretty high).

But I got this monkey off my back!! One down...forty seven to go?!

RHoD is a heck of a campaign from everything I've heard. I've read bits of it (from when I thought I might be starting again), and was pretty impressed.

One thing to consider is that list is set to cover the whole thing from start to finish. I might have missed a few entries, but that should be pretty close. A DM running RHoD would be well served to plan ahead and figure out what would be needed for each section.

And WotC have filled in a couple gaps since I posted that list.
