The Adventures of Waylander

Part 1
Waylander is a fighter/ranger that was new to the city of Melvaunt and he loved to keep to himself and does not care anyone but himself. He was having a few drinks at a local tavern called the Breakwater when he took notice of a half-orc and halfling keeping to themselves. He noticed on the message board that someone named Blackalbuck was looking for spy to work for him. Waylander thought about the opportunity but figure he best stay with the tavern and enjoy the sights and the ale. During that night after much drink and much waiting the halfling re-enters into the bar without the half-orc. He asks about the ranger’s interest in the job for hire. He offered Waylander 250 gp to find out any information on the where abouts of missing lifestock that disappeared after a ship was attacked by pirates on Moonsea. The ship was burnt down and ran sacked. But the treasure and the livestock was taken. By information by another spy (the half-orc) he knows that some of it was transported to the iron city through the dockward and that it is being held for money. The halfling introduces himself as Ulblyn Blackalbuck and states that they should meet the next day at his shop in the city called Blackalbuck’s Swap Shop. He hands the ranger a gold coin with a flame stamp on one end and states that the sigil is the brand of the livestock.
The next day Waylander travels the city and hear rumors of pirates having caches along the coast towards the city of Phlan. He also learns that a tavern owner named Corwyn Jaffe, who owns the place called the Devil’s Fire Tavern is involved with some pirates. That evening Waylander goes to the Blackalbuck’s Swap Shop and meet’s his partner a half-orc fighter from Phlan named Sparkta and they share information. Ulblyn sends them both off to investigate the Devil’s Fire Tavern.
At the tavern named for the magical red windows that glow, they travel in and set themselves down for a few drinks and ease dropping. Both of them spot red mud on the half-elf owner and salty dog pirate’s boots which means they have been somewhere within the bar that connects to the docks. After spending some good coin that got the waitress all over the half-orc, the party decides that they got enough information that they are going to break into the tavern after hours. Especially after playing a game of chance with the pirates Waylander see’s that they have a matching coin to the one the Halfling gave them. So after the bar closes Sparkta breaks into the building in which they capture the owner and the cook and tie them up. They find a trap door in the floor of the owners bedroom in which they travel into. They find dire rats, vipers and pirates and a half-orc rogue named Chork. They kill all thugs and find out that the livestock are actually slaves with the brand of the flame along their skin. Waylander got the information he needed including some gold, gems and a blank piece of paper with the wax seal of Moonsea. They torch the building and the remains including the kettle of dogs and the slaves. They torture Corwyn and find out that the buyers are both a party of thugs and pirates and that the cache is along the Phlan sea coast road. The party got the info they needed and they torch the rest of the tavern and leave.
