So what are you favorite books, authors, etc? It can be any genre, you can sort your lists however you want. I'm curious to see what people love to read. I'm always on the lookout for new authors and books that are good. So maybe this thread will help other people besides me to find new and exciting books.

I'm a huge fan of:

Catcher in the Rye (maybe spelled wrong, haven't read it in years haha Very Happy)
A Clockwork Orange
Most fantasy books I've read
Some star wars novels

Aaaahhhh, I'm drawing a blank.

Well i dont read alot of fiction novels. I mostly only read non-fiction books. Archaelogy, fishing, survival, edible plants are a few of the topics i generally read in addition to some other books like old military manuals.

You would not believe the amount of fishing and hunting books my Dad has. I've read quite a few of them but it would take years to read them all.

He is a good angler/hunter. But he has had to give some of it up because of how bad his back is, mostly hunting. He fishes like crazy still and me right beside him usually.

Well i can definitely relate to that...I used to be into archery bigtime and Skeet shooting before my neck injury. I used to be quite a good shot skeet/trap shooting (average 22/25 in both trap and skeet) Those little clay discs were nothing but dust Wink

I'm going to try and have a list of some of my favorite authors and books up today or in a couple of days. Maybe some people will find some of the books interesting.

I've been going to a couple of used book stores lately and I'll see if they have any.

I bought a few Steven King movies today at the flea market. The Shining, Maximum Overdrive, The Dark Half, and Sometimes They Come Back.
Also picked up Heavy Metal, Scarface, Mummy Returns, The Rock, Godzilla, Basic and Lord of Illusions. Not bad for $2 each.

Hey RedSkullz, you got some pretty good movies and really cheap too.

@ Kilsek, Stephen King books are really great to read. One of my favorite authors no doubt.

I used to read a lot of Stephen King, but I hardly even bother anymore. I haven't even finished The Dark Tower (I'm up to Wizards and Glass)!

I used to read everything that Clive Barker put out, but stopped when Imajica hit.

I was reading the Laurell K. Hamilton "Anita Blake" series, but didn't care for the way the series devolved into bad porn.

I'm waiting for the next "Harry Dresden" book from Jim Butcher, which will be some time as I don't buy hardbacks very often.

I had been reading the new Dune novels, but got sidetracked after the first trilogy (even though I really enjoyed them)....And that's where I stand with anything approaching "modern".

I've heard about the Laurell K. Hamilton "Anita Blake" series, are the first few books good than it goes to trash? I know they started making comics of them but I've never read them either. Just curious because I have looked at the books before but never bought them.

I thought that the first 8(?) books are really good, but number 8 (Obsidian Butterfly) is where the crest hits and then the quality falls off so sharply that you'll cut yourself on it.

Things are, allegedly, picking up with her newest book "The Harlequin". But since things have fallen so far, I don't know that I could ever pick it up...and Edward appears prominently in the book. That alone should make it mandatory.

LKH has been catching a LOT of flak (IMO, deservedly) for the way things have turned after Obsidian Butterfly and the theory is that she's trying to right the ship. Even I've got to admit though, that it's probably too late. The soft-core porn (or any other core porn for that matter) should have been kept to her Meredith Gentry (fae-based) books and out of Anita-ville.
